[コメント]高校生のときからの友人同士のフランソワ・ギラン・モリィヨンとセバスチャン・コップがフランスで2005年に設立したシューズブランドVeja。ブランド名のVejaにはポルトガル語で『見る』という意味があり、生産されたシューズの向こう側には何があるのか - クラシックでオーガニックということだけではなく、あくまでそれはスタートラインでありその上にデザイン性や機能性は成立する。そしてフェアであり続ける - そんな意味が込められています。Vejaの製品作りは原材料作りから行われています。ソールなどで使用するゴムはブラジルのゴム農家と契約し生産されています。彼らはアマゾンの大自然をテリトリーに密林の中で自然に自生するパームツリーに切り込みを入れて受け皿を取り付け、乳白色の天然ゴムを採取するクラシックな手法で天然ゴムを集めます。木から採取した天然ゴムは農家自ら鮮度の高いその日のうちに精製されるので、VEJA Logo粘度の高い良質のゴムが生産されます。また、原材料の一つのキャンバス・ファブリックは契約したオーガニックコットン農家が一貫して生産しており、こちらもブラジルの大自然で栽培・生産されています。また、ランニングタイプのスニーカーなどに使用されているナイロンのファブリックは日本の開発したリサイクル技術が使用されています。これは100％リサイクルのペットボトルを原材料に化学処理は一切行わず、熱処理と物理処理のみで再生品化する特殊な技術です。こうして作られたモダンでシンプルでオーガニックなスニーカーは機能面でも高く評価され、母国フランスはもとより世界的に高く評価されています。
